Lao Tzu said “A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step” but for some, that first step is a huge challenge…. frozen by analysis-paralysis, over-thinking, not knowing how to start, when to start, what to do, fear of taking the wrong step.
Yes, it’s good to have the end in sight but we don’t necessarily need to know exactly how the journey will unfold before we start.
Sometimes the journey is the lesson.
Sometimes a step on the journey illuminates where we go next.
Sometimes the journey itself raises our awareness to whole new possibilities, to outcomes we could never have dreamed of before.
My advice has always been simple to anyone stuck on that first step:
Just do something.
Take a single step not knowing where it will take you, just that it will take you somewhere.
Let go of needing to know everything before you start.
Be open to the outcome being something even better than you could have imagined.
