Some folks like to make resolutions at the start of the calendar year. I gave up this practice some years ago but I do like to set intentions around Imbolc timing, which for me is early February (NH). I also use the Samhain/Yule period to reflect on what worked in the previous Wheel of the Year, and the possibilities for the coming year.
I had (have!?) been known to get into agonizing over-analysis (analysis paralysis!) on making my final choices, goals and intentions — especially when I relied only on my mind to make my decisions. But I know that my best choices (at any time!!!) always come from my heart… my intuition… my wise inner self.
A few years ago, I came across this quote from Carlos Castaneda and now use this question to get out of the over-analysis / “monkey mind” trap and to help me shift to my heart to make a choice:
“Look at every path closely and deliberately, then ask ourselves this crucial question: Does this path have a heart? If it does, then the path is good. If it doesn’t, it is of no use.”
Mind you, I often just take the “Nike” approach aka “Just do it!” … and learn from whatever happens! 🌞
